Magnificent and rare Indian window mirror, handcrafted in Rajasthan from painted buffalo bone, featuring decorations of horsemen and camels in the style of Rajput miniatures. An ancient folk art piece from the early 20th century, 1920s-1930s. Beautifully executed with detailed painting and quality craftsmanship. Wooden structure covered with bone plates. Antique fittings. Opening shutters. The mirror may have been replaced more recently. There is an inscription engraved in the wood on the inside of one of the shutters, which is illegible. Height 36.5cm, maximum width 36cm, thickness 3cm. Very good overall condition. Signs of use, small areas of missing paint revealing the bare white bone, one missing rivet on the back with no impact, absence of the lock stopper. Old traces and markings on the reverse and the number 46 circled in pen inside one of the shutters, possibly manufacturing marks or an old reference. Weight approximately 2kg.
