Unique swivel armchair in carved solid oak, probably dating from the early 20th century. The chair features a wooden seat with rounded corners, topped by an enveloping backrest that extends into armrests. The whole is supported by four turned balusters, while the central part of the backrest is adorned with a carved panel featuring a repetitive geometric design, framed by vertical mouldings. The seat rests on an imposing tripod base, articulated around a central turned and carved shaft with stylised plant motifs. The three solid legs, with rounded ends, give the whole a particularly architectural silhouette. Beneath the seat, an old ball-bearing mechanism allows for a complete 360° rotation. Still perfectly functional, it ensures a smooth movement and attests to the quality of the chair's design. Through the combination of its turned elements, carved decorations, and ingenious swivelling system, this chair reflects a design that is both functional and decorative, characteristic of early 20th-century office furniture. The antique condition shows signs of use and age, including scratches, marks, surface wear, and traces of old restorations. The swivelling mechanism works perfectly. See detailed photographs.
