Large English library with a projection (renovated)

This large English breakfront bookcase, dated from the William IV to early Victorian period, commands attention with its three-tier silhouette, moulded cornice, and lotus capital columns. Monumental, elegant, and rare. Materials: walnut and mahogany (solid and veneer), with grain patterns enhanced by thorough sanding. The woods reveal warm and deep tones, ranging from honey to copper. Features: the upper section comprises three display cabinets with glass doors, adorned with applied scrollwork and rosettes instead of the usual small wood elements: a rare detail that signifies the originality of the piece. Engaged columns punctuate the façade. At the lower part, four pointed-arch panel doors, inspired by the neo-Gothic style, conceal generous storage with shelves and drawers. The interior shelves are original. The upper section disassembles into four parts (three display cabinets and the cornice); the base is monobloc. Renovation: this antique English bookcase has been entirely sanded externally, gently and manually, to remove its tired old shiny varnish. It has been carefully washed and then protected with wax, giving it a soft and natural appearance. Inside, it has been fully protected with linseed oil and then polished. Condition: this bookcase is in superb condition. All its doors lock; three keys are present. Note: a few small veneer chips are visible on the plinth and at the corners of the top, but remain discreet. The majority of the glass panes are original and exhibit the characteristic bubbles of old glass. However, some panes have been replaced during its past life. Dimensions: L250 X D49 X H234. Lower part: L243.5 X D41-49 X H90. Interior depth: 41-33. Upper part: L250 X D34-40 X H143. Interior depth: 29-21.
