Walnut commode with a discreetly curved front. It dates from the 18th century and boasts a splendid patina, both very dense and very luminous. It opens with three wide, curved and moulded drawers, featuring two thick bronze handles with floral motifs and a central medallion. They have likely been added later, but they are old and of fine quality. In the centre, there is a very elegant keyhole. The original locks are present, but there is no key. All the bronze fittings are intact on the commode. The interiors of the drawers (the bottoms still show traces of the tools used by the craftsmen of the time) have been lined with a very beautiful multicoloured patterned fabric that adds a real visual pop upon opening, while protecting the contents of the drawers. The front legs are slightly rounded and the corners are bevelled. The sides are panelled and the top is adorned with an astonishing patina. On the left side, a knot in the wood has opened over time, forming very aesthetic natural shapes. Like all furniture from this era, it shows signs of wear: the legs have been restored in the past and professionally (the work is very discreet). There are signs of wood-boring insects (but these marks are old, the wood is healthy and stabilised, presenting no risk) and small cracks and other minor imperfections here and there. However, this nearly 300-year-old beauty is in excellent overall condition and can be used as is in a bedroom, living room... H: 101 cm. W: 134 cm. D: 59 cm. Drawer interior: 45 X 105 X 18 cm.
