Decorative ceramic plate from Vallauris - Jean Jalu - Bird Decoration St

Superb vintage ceramic plate made by the potter Jean Jalu in Vallauris (1950-1960 period). Decoration: Imaginary bird treated in a modernist and colourful way (red, blue, orange, and green). Technique: Polychrome relief glazing on a speckled grey background known as "granite" or "salt and pepper, " typical of the artist's work. Signature: Signed "Jalu" on the back of the piece. Condition: "Very good condition, no chips or cracks." Dimensions: 30 cm. This piece is a magnificent testament to the golden age of Vallauris ceramics, featuring strong graphics and colours that remain very vibrant.
