SET OF 6 3LC T CHAIRS BY WILLIAM KATAVOLOS FOR LAVERNE INTERNATIONAL, 1952 Artist: William Katavolos "T" 3LC chairs in black leather and chrome metal, created by D. Kelly and W. Katavolos for Laverne International. These chairs feature a tripod base in chrome and black metal, paired with a taut black leather seat. A superb design with a unique technique for attaching the leather to the frame. The leather has a beautiful patina. 1960s – United States William Katavolos, in collaboration with Douglas Kelley and Ross Littell, designed the iconic "T" chair with a suspended backrest, referenced as 3LC, as part of Laverne International's sculptural "New Furniture" series in 1952. Concealed screws attach the leather seat to a frame made of chrome steel tubes and flat black lacquered steel profiles, creating a striking three-legged chair design. The T chair is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and other major museums around the world.
