Transforming table produced by Tingströms in Valdemarsvik, Sweden, during the 1960s. Specialising in transforming and extendable tables, the company developed construction techniques that combined mechanical precision with skilled woodworking, qualities well represented by this example. The teak frame is characterised by strongly tapered, angled legs connected by pierced side stretchers and shaped supports beneath the top. The continuity of the lines and the gradual tapering of the profiles give the piece a distinctly sculptural character. The internal wooden mechanism allows the top to be raised and its surface extended, transforming the table from 120 × 59 × 60 cm to 120 × 94 × 70 cm. The original Tingströms label is still present. Good condition. It may show some signs of age and use. Please pay close attention to the photographs. AE1449
