Painting made in oil on cardboard panel, signed a. Thévin for alice thévin, artist whose works are rare, even more so when they represent american views - see attached bio. Very beautiful workmanship for this view entitled "usa 1920" on the back. In good condition, the frame (carved wood) is offered with the work (recent marie louise). Staying in barbizon during her young years, she developed a passion for drawing and painting. She realized her ambition to become a painter after first teaching art and literature for several years in boston, philadelphia and new york. Taking few portraits, his favorite themes will be urban or industrial scenes as well as countryside landscapes. His works were exhibited in boston, new york at the georgette passedoit gallery as well as in france during a retrospective at the salon des femmes peintres et sculpteurs in 1948. An album of his sketches from new york was also published at many copies. Various places represented: ornans, tomb of courbet - 1924 landscape new hampshire - 1925 old docks of gloucester, massachusetts old street of beverly, massachusetts - 1922 provence, côte d'azur - 1918.
