Show original text. This desk was designed by Kai Kristiansen and manufactured by Feldballes Møbelfabrik in Denmark in the 1960s. It is a fine example of high-quality materials and workmanship. This desk is made of rosewood and is self-supporting thanks to the finished back with open storage space. The front consists of two modules, with three drawers on the right and a deep file drawer on the left. The rosewood elements were cleaned and painted in a rosewood stain and finished with a durable semi-matte lacquer. Kai Kristiansen. Kai Kristiansen. Danish designer Kai Kristiansen was born in 1929. Like most of the great Danish designers, he began his career as an apprentice cabinetmaker. Around 1948, he began his studies at the prestigious Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, under the great designer Kaare Klint. At the age of 26, Kai Kristiansen opened his own studio, where he created furniture typical of the Danish modern style. His designs were produced by famous Danish manufacturers such as Feldballes Møbelfabrik, Fornem Møbelkunst, Fritz Hansen, and Magnus Olesen.
