Chrome pendant lamps "Saturno" by Staff Leuchten, designed by Japanese designer Kazuo Motozawa in 1972. This rare model consists of 24 chrome rings that allow light to filter through suggestively. The Saturno collection won the iF Design Award in 1972. In excellent condition, with slight signs of wear; perfectly functional, re-wired. Kazuo Motozawa, born in 1945 in Japan, is a renowned Japanese designer internationally recognised for his revolutionary Space Age lighting designs from the 1970s. He is famous for combining geometric sculptural forms with innovative light modulation. The Saturno collection is his most famous work... It is the series of lamps developed in the early 1970s, evoking the orbits of planets through a structure of overlapping concentric circles. Composed of slats or rings in chrome-plated metal with a white interior, the lamp conceals the direct light source. It produces a soft, warm ambient light that diffuses between the metallic spaces. This collection won the prestigious iF Design Award in 1971, establishing Motozawa among the greats of modernism. Initially produced in Japan by Yamagiwa, the European success led to a production licence for the historic German brand Staff Leuchten. Today, Motozawa lamps in table, floor, and pendant versions are highly sought-after vintage collector's items. Dimensions: H. 50 cm, Diameter 18 cm.
