This small tribal mask, called a "passport mask, " is an authentic piece from the Dan Mahou people, present between Ivory Coast and Liberia. Carved from dense wood, it traditionally served as a personal object or amulet, often worn or kept for ritual or identity purposes. This particular model is distinguished by a long, tapered beak, carved as a direct extension of the face. The slitted eyes, marked nose, and discreet mouth are typical of the sober and codified aesthetic of Dan masks. The surface has an old patina, with visible traces of wear and a crack on the forehead, attesting to prolonged use. Measuring 19 cm without the base and 30 cm with the support, it rests on a turned wooden base topped with a brass rod. The whole is stable, ready for display. Antique tribal art object in a condition consistent with its age, stable and without visible restorations.
