Delicate tea service (or other!) from the prestigious Bernardaud factory in Limoges, made of green paste (dyed celadon green and not white as is usually the case with Limoges productions) and patterns imitating the precious Chinese porcelain once imported by the East India Company. All pieces, including the undersides of the cups, are stamped B & C (ompagnie), and the 'green paste' cartouche dates them between 1920 and 1927. The entire set is in flawless condition for these centenarians (no cracks, no hairlines, nor wear on the patterns, gilding in very good condition; to note for accuracy: a micro chip of 1 mm under the base of the cream jug, invisible when placed upright). These repeated motifs of flowers and insects (butterflies) are, if you observe closely, all arranged differently according to the pieces, which greatly adds to their delicate charm. I couldn't find a name for this uncommon service; the colours and floral patterns would most closely resemble the Pondichery model of later creation, without insects, found on Chinese porcelain, which features blue lines rather than grey as here. Weight approximately 2.6 kg. 6 cups and their saucers. 1 jug. 1 sugar bowl with its lid. 1 teapot, without a lid. Two separate lots of 2 additional cups are available in my shop (a total of 10 cups for sale) with a single shipping fee if purchasing the additional cups; select 'home delivery' for extra cups.
