The work represents a scene of hunting with hounds, or fox hunting in English, a classic theme in animal and sporting art, particularly popular in the 19th and 20th centuries. The riders are dressed in traditional attire, including the red coat (known as "pink" in England), black riding boots, and helmets. They are depicted jumping over a hedge, highlighting the dynamism of the action. The sculpted frame is made of solid wood in egg and dart style or with repetitive oval patterns, quite substantial, typical of mid-20th century interior decorations. This style of imagery was very common for decorating drawing rooms, libraries, or country houses and often draws inspiration from great English masters of the genre such as Heywood Hardy, George Wright, or Thomas Blinks.
