Victorian bonbonnière by George T. & Co, cobalt glass and silver-plated metal, 19th century.

Elegant antique oval glass bonbonnière in thick pressed cobalt, attributed to George T. & Co, England, late 19th century. Cobalt glass body, base moulded with a wide radiating star. Lid in richly embossed silver-plated metal with radiating patterns and chased friezes, finished with an elegant central knob. Total height approximately 9.5cm to the top of the lid, about 5.7cm without the lid. Length of the body alone 15cm, width 10cm, lid slightly larger. Very good condition, although there are 2 old scratches on one side of the glass, one large and one lighter, relatively discreet, possibly manufacturing defects, as well as a few small discreet chips on the rim and under the base, very minimally visible when displayed. The metal of the lid shows slight wear and some stains, yet remains harmonious overall. Approximately 650-700g.
