Art Deco / Reconstruction Period, France, circa 1940. Elegant armchair convertible into a chaise longue, typical of French productions of the Reconstruction period, in the spirit of the creations of René Gabriel or Antonin Heythum. Solid beech frame, both sober and robust. Adjustable backrest mechanism with 4 positions, in aluminum with chrome-plated brass support bar. The footrest / ottoman is ingeniously foldable under the seat, allowing a smooth transformation into a chaise longue. Upholstery in skai, probably original, in very good condition. Very comfortable piece, combining functionality and aesthetics. A rare example of modular furniture with a sober and utilitarian design, emblematic of the revival of French design of the 1940s. Dimensions: Height: 91 cm Seat height: 39 cm Width: 70 cm Length (unfolded): 90 (150) cm Very good general condition.
