Empire style desk – return from Egypt

This solid mahogany desk features a superb green leather-covered top with gilt imperial frieze decoration. The leather shows some signs of age (see photos), testifying to its authenticity. The front offers five functional drawers with finely chiseled bronze handles and keyholes, in the Empire style. Each leg is decorated with an antique gilt bronze woman's head, a symbol of imperial statuary. The legs end in bronze claws, adding a powerful touch to the silhouette of the piece. The back of the desk is also decorated, allowing it to be placed in the center of a room. In good overall condition, with a beautiful period patina. Original leather with signs of wear and some stains (see detailed photos). A piece of furniture that is both functional and full of character, perfect for a study, a library or a refined living room.
