Scandinavian modular shelving system by Poul Cadovius for Gustav Bahus

Scandinavian wall-mounted shelving system. Danish design by Poul Cadovius for Norwegian manufacturer Gustav Bahus. This fully modular shelving system dates back to the 1950s and is a true classic of the mid-century style. When Poul Cadovius launched the Royal System wall-mounted shelving system, the designer licensed his models to various manufacturers, which is the case with this example, manufactured in Norway by Gustav Bahus. Rarer than the Danish-made version, this system nevertheless has the same characteristics and dimensions as the Danish-made system, and the Danish elements can be combined with the Norwegian elements. The entire system is made of teak, and the hanging hardware is made of brass. It consists of three sections, or four wall uprights for hanging the elements. The uprights are 198.5 cm high. All elements and shelves are 80 cm wide. One large shelf is 30 cm deep. Six shelves are 20 cm deep. A four-drawer storage unit, 24.5 cm high and 30 cm deep. A two-door storage unit with canework and an interior shelf, 33.5 cm high and 39 cm deep. A display cabinet with sliding doors and an adjustable glass shelf, 33.5 cm high and 30 cm deep. The total width of the system in the configuration shown in the photos is 245 cm. The unit is in good condition and has been oiled and prepared in our workshop in Sweden. However, some signs of use may be visible. Note some chips on the edges of the glass parts of the display cabinet, barely visible and mainly located on the interior glass shelf. Some small strands of damaged canework. These defects are quite minor compared to the general condition of the system and its age.
