Pair of bistro chairs in the style of thonet bentwood chairs. Indeed, michael thonet has worked extensively on the development of the bentwood technique. He was inspired by other fields such as cooperage and boat builders who thought of exploiting the natural elasticity of wood. His revolutionary idea was to boil sheets of wood of the same thickness in glue to give them the desired curvature. The seat is made of cane. France, mid-20th century.
