Large antique French gilded mirror with painted floral decoration.

France, 19th century | 100 × 64 cm. Elegant French mirror from the 19th century, notable for its gilded frame with an antique patina and its delicate hand-painted floral and vegetal decoration. The generously moulded frame features gently rounded upper corners and particularly harmonious proportions, characteristic of French interiors of the time. The antique gilding offers beautiful shades and variations of tones, naturally created by time, which give the whole piece depth and authenticity. An elegant decoration of intertwined foliage and floral motifs runs along the frame in golden and slightly contrasting tones. Discreet and refined, this decoration highlights the architectural lines of the mirror without overwhelming them. The antique glass shows natural signs of oxidation and pitting, typical of old mirrors. These marks of time create subtle effects in the reflection and contribute fully to the charm and historical character of the piece. The reverse retains its significant traditional wooden backing, also indicative of its age. Condition. Presented in a beautiful authentic antique condition, with a particularly decorative natural patina. Presence of signs of use and age: wear and small losses of gilding, slight cracks, as well as a more visible loss on the upper part of the frame. The glass also shows pitting and signs of oxidation related to its age. These elements have been intentionally preserved to maintain the character and authenticity of the mirror, without excessive restoration. Please carefully consult the detailed photographs. Dimensions. Height: 100 cm. Width: 64 cm. A true piece of character. With its warm gilding, elegant proportions, and glass beautifully aged by time, this mirror will naturally find its place in a Parisian interior, whether classic, contemporary, minimalist, or eclectic.
