Exceptional pair of large vases in Historicist / Neo-Renaissance style made of majolica, produced at the end of the 19th century by the famous Wilhelm Schiller & Son (WS&S) factory in Obergrund, Bohemia (Austro-Hungarian Empire). • Features: Complex high-relief decorations of stylised foliage and medallions adorned with fantastic birds. The side handles take the spectacular form of marine creatures / mythological dolphins. • Visual signature: The interior of both vases is entirely covered with the famous bright turquoise blue glaze, typical and emblematic of Schiller's craftsmanship. • Markings under the base: Raised rectangular cartouche stamp "WS&S", engraved mould number "2623" and series letter. Production dating precisely from 1885-1890. • Condition: Very good state of preservation for their age, no visible restoration, superb patina (see photos of the bases).
