3376 – enamelled jug – desvres earthenware – henri delcourt (1872-1963) from the art deco period, in desvres earthenware produced at the la madeleine factory in boulogne-sur-mer, about twenty kilometers away, this enamelled jug signed by henri delcourt is in good condition. No major cracks or chips. Minor signs of use over time, usual for this type of ceramic. Beautiful stylized polychrome enameling. Height 196 mm X 168 mm with handle. Weight 800 g. Careful and tracked shipping. For information, the history of desvres earthenware begins in the middle of the 18th century with the boulongne family of potters manufacturing tiles followed by the level family and then georges martel, known as géo, in 1900. Not to mention the fourmaintraux earthenware dynasty split into 3 factories, jules verlingue, with mr. Lagarde, created his earthenware factory la madeleine in boulogne-sur-mer in 1903. He sold it in 1918 to the doctor of law and banker henri delcourt, who operated it until its sale in 1932 in the purest art deco style, modeling his way of working on that of jules verlingue. It disappeared in 1935.
