Large crapaud armchair in the style of Napoleon III, circa 1860, preserved in its original condition with its original fabric. The printed fabric features rhododendrons in shades of pink, fuchsia, and green on a striped ivory background — a floral composition typical of the great textile publishing houses of the Second Empire. Reupholstered in 1990. The silhouette is characteristic of the crapaud: low curved backrest with wave-like ears, rolled armrests, and a generous, deep seat. The base is adorned with a wide twisted bicolour fringe in green and pink of fine artisanal quality. Heavier and bulkier than later crapaud armchairs (early 20th century). Height of the backrest: 83 cm. Seat height: 32 cm. Width: 77 cm. Depth: 69 cm. Structure in solid beech, sound and sturdy. Fabric slightly faded and uniform with small puncture tears, witnesses to its age and history. Coordinated cushion included.
