Art Nouveau silver-plated brass teapot, WMF, Germany, early 20th century

The WMF teapot from the early 20th century is an example of Art Nouveau design made of silver-plated brass. The organically flared body in a matte, silvery-grey shade shows the fluidity of lines characteristic of Jugendstil, while the compact, clearly defined base ensures stability. The upper part of the teapot and the lid are decorated with a rhythmic, horizontal band of grooves, and the elongated, slender spout with a subtly angular cross-section gives the form architectural precision. The geometric handle with a distinct inner bevel and visible rivets indicates solid construction and craftsmanship, while the conical lid handle with vertical ribbing harmonises with the overall details. The surface shows minor scratches, patina, and local abrasions, sometimes revealing the brass base—these are typical signs of age and use, but do not affect structural integrity. Preserved in good condition, the teapot presents an authentic character and a clear mark of history.
