Søren Holst model 2552 sofa for Fredericia, Denmark, 1980s. The construction of this sofa is meant to be seen. Søren Holst designed model 2552 with little hidden behind the upholstery. The solid oak frame, open back, and shaped joints define the character of the design. Holst designed this series in the 1980s for Fredericia Stolefabrik. The wide, softly rounded armrests rest on a tightly constructed frame, while the slanted back and open slat construction make the sofa interesting from every angle. It is a design where the sobriety of Danish design is combined with details you discover up close. The warm oak contrasts well with the four dark grey mottled cushions. The loose seat and back cushions keep the wooden frame visible and give the sofa an open look despite its sturdy construction. The relatively compact width also makes this a fine two-seater for interiors where you want the comfort of a sofa without the bulk of a large upholstered model. The oak frame has been carefully cleaned and treated in our workshop. Old wax and built-up maintenance layers have been removed, and the wood has been nourished again. This makes the natural grain visible and restores its warm appearance. The four cushions have been professionally cleaned and are ready for use. Under the sofa is the original Fredericia Stolefabrik label with Søren Holst as designer and model number 2552. With purchase, you receive maintenance instructions and matching furniture oil to keep the wood beautiful at home.
