Space-age pendant lamp

Space Age pendant lamp, produced in Germany in the 1960s. It is formally associated with the avant-garde Space Age movement which flourished during the 1960s, influenced by the space race and the iconography of atomic and molecular structures. The lamp features 17 spherical opal glass diffusers, 4 on the upper level, 8 on the central body or ‘belt’, and 4 on the lower level, topped by a globe at the base, thus breaking with the crown or perfect sphere configuration (Sputnik-style) and adopting a cascading silhouette that emulates a cluster suspended from a central cylindrical shaft. The lamp has few marks on the lacquerwork, which are barely noticeable overall. The wiring has been replaced by a professional. Diameter 45cm x Height 73 cm.
