Curule-style stool made in Mexico during the 1940s, framed within the Spanish Colonial Revival or Hacienda style movement. This historicist movement sought to recover the austere and robust aesthetic of furniture from the viceroyalties of the 16th and 17th centuries. Built in solid wood, the structure features the classic arched 'X' frame connected by horizontal stretchers, an adaptation of historic campaign seats. The seat consists of a thick panel of stretched leather, fixed to the frame with hand-forged iron fittings and tacks. The original leather shows a heavily patinated surface with visible craquelure, deep texture, and tone variations consistent with its age.
