Capella armchair by Illum Wikkelso

This superb Capella armchair, designed by Danish designer Illum Wikkelsø, captivates with the balance of its proportions and the purity of its lines. Its elegance is enhanced by the refined combination of a solid rosewood structure and a cushion dressed in black leather, creating a contrast that is both understated and sophisticated. The clean lines reveal the richness of the grain and the natural warmth of the rosewood. Before establishing his own workshop in 1954, Illum Wikkelsø collaborated with Danish cabinetmaker Jacob Kjær as well as architects Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen. His work, recognised for harmoniously blending aesthetics, simplicity, and functionality, is among the major references of Mid-Century Modern Danish design.
