Designed by Josef Hospodka for the Czechoslovak manufacture of Chřibská, this sculptural star-shaped piece masterfully captures the essence of high East European glassmaking. Of exceptional craftsmanship, the object impresses with its organic hot modelling. Its eight asymmetrical points, stretched with pliers, create a fluid and captivating dynamic. Its heart of deep, vibrant cobalt blue is suspended within a thick translucent envelope, illustrating a mastery of colour inclusion using the fascinating Murano Sommerso technique. Its massive base, perfectly ground and polished flat, shows an authentic patina of use that certifies its era.
