Rare set of 5 antique fine earthenware plates from Choisy-le-Roi (H. Boulenger & Cie) Model "Kioto", a superb example of the Japonisme style that was very popular at the end of the 19th century. Night blue decor printed under the glaze with highly detailed Asian-inspired motifs (butterfly, bat, flowers, and geometric reserves). Lot details (5 pieces in total) duplicate butterfly plate. Very good overall condition for their age! No major chips. The earthenware shows a lovely patina of time with a slight crazing/natural network of cracks that adds to the charm of the antique.
