1980s Czechoslovakian Modernist Convertible Three-Seater Sofa Bed

1980s Czechoslovakian Modernist Convertible Three-Seater Sofa Bed with Beechwood Armrests. An elegant and highly functional vintage convertible sofa bed from 1980s Czechoslovakia, distinguished by its sculptural solid beechwood armrests, original textured upholstery, and architectural metal supporting frame. This distinctive three-seater sofa reflects the practical ingenuity and understated modernist aesthetics of late twentieth-century Central European furniture design. Its carefully balanced construction combines warm natural wood, geometric tubular forms, and generously upholstered surfaces to create a sophisticated yet inviting piece of multifunctional furniture. CONVERTIBLE SOFA BED FUNCTION Designed with versatility in mind, the sofa incorporates a folding mechanism that allows it to transform from a three-seater couch into a spacious bed. When fully extended, the upholstered sections form a sleeping surface measuring approximately 190 × 133 cm (74.80 × 52.36 inches). The transformation reveals the sofa’s intelligent modular construction, with three upholstered sections creating a broad and comfortable resting surface. This practical dual-purpose design makes the piece particularly suitable for apartments, guest rooms, architectural interiors, and multifunctional living spaces.
