Onyx desk top with brass gallery

Period: ca. Late 19th- early 20th century. This unique piece would make a beautiful desk tray, dressing table top or centerpiece. The rectangular onyx plate has a very pale green color although it looks whiter in the photos; it has beautiful parallel veins that pass through and let the light through. The brass gallery contains inspired motifs on greek palmette friezes. The tray rests on four small brass legs. This work is similar to the types and styles of objects made in the late 19th to early 20th centuries in collaboration with the onyx marble society of algeria, directed by gustave viot and eugène cornu. Status: very good. No damage. Dimensions: 34.4 cm long, 23.7 cm wide, 5 cm high, 2.3 kg.
