Large 40cm imari plate decorated with golden chrysanthemum flowers and various green and red flowers. Opposing ends decorated by two ho-o birds and two gardens with peaches. Underglaze blue, overglaze red and green, decorated with gold. The chrysanthemum symbolizes royalty, longevity, happiness, love, and joy. Peaches represent immortality or long life. The japanese phoenix for ying and yang or peace, beginning of a new era. Perhaps this plate was given for a wedding or a birth. Condition report: very good condition, no cracks or chips.
