Red glazed earthenware teapot, made by Andy & Claire Squire at the La Maison des Sangliers workshop in Noyers-sur-Serein (Yonne). The piece is distinguished by its compact and architectural form, deliberately understated, designed for both use and aesthetic appeal. The well-balanced pyramidal body, short spout, and generous handle create a harmonious balance, while the fluted lid adds rhythm and verticality to the overall design. The decoration, hand-painted with oxides and engobes, consists of deep blue circles contrasting with the warm tones of the red earthenware. The rich and nuanced glaze displays slight variations from the firing process, evidence of the handcrafted work and workshop production. In good vintage condition, with minor glaze irregularities inherent to the handmade nature of the piece, consistent with its character; a tiny chip on the base of the blue rim and a small chip at the top of the handle (see photos). Total width from spout to handle: 21 cm, base diameter: 16.5 cm, height without lid: 11.5 cm, total height: 17 cm. A workshop ceramic piece with a controlled presence, chosen for its stylistic impact.
