Mid-20th century painting "Tree at Sunset"

Oil on canvas, 1950s (?), composition outside the frame, strong, vigorous black lines, swirling brushstrokes on a tawny background lending the landscape an unusual dramatic tension. The canvas, although sound, shows craquelure visible in the photo. The painting was executed on a piece of striped deckchair canvas (visible on the back), securely stretched over its original frame. The straight, black and gold wooden frame, probably more recent, has a small chip on the lower left side. Frame dimensions: height 53 cm, width 58.5 cm, depth 5 cm.
