Original Swedish oil on canvas from the mid-century "Forest" by Wilhelm Henning - Vintage and framed Vibrant oil on canvas by Swedish artist Wilhelm Henning (1899-1955) Technique: Oil on canvas Condition: Good vintage condition. Height 39 cm Width 34 cm Henning studied at the Konstakademien (Royal Academy of Fine Arts) in Stockholm in 1921 and 1922, at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He undertook study trips to North and South America. He initially worked as a sculptor and had his first solo exhibition at Fortuna Konsthandel in Stockholm around 1922. He exhibited in group exhibitions, including those of the Sveriges Allmänna Konstförening (General Association of Arts of Sweden) at the Liljevalch Art Gallery in Stockholm. Henning only began exhibiting his paintings in 1940. He is best known for his painted street scenes of his hometown of Gothenburg, often on a small scale, as well as for his nature scenes and abstract compositions.
