COD 11453. Antique French painting from the first half of the 18th century. Oil on canvas artwork depicting a young warrior caught in a moment of surprise. The face is slightly turned, the gaze off-camera, the mouth slightly open, the spear firmly held: all elements that create a moment of psychological suspension, the moment in which thought precedes action. Painting attributed to the great painter Alexis Grimou (1678-1733), known as the French Rembrandt, famous for his intimate painting influenced by the Flemish tradition. The painting displays some of his distinctive features: a soft and psychologically profound style, with warm skin tones and a soft light (the work is not currently accompanied by an expert opinion, but it can be requested upon payment of the relevant additional costs). 20th-century frame in carved and gilded wood, beautifully decorated, with some signs of aging. A painting of remarkable pictorial quality and an ideal format, perfect for a professional studio and suitable for prestigious spaces, whether classic or contemporary. The painting has already been restored with relining, replacement of the stretcher, and restoration of the color in small areas. Overall, it is in good condition.
