Large Biot candlestick in black glazed earthenware, former lamp base, 1960s.

Rare, vintage lamp base that can serve as a large candlestick or be re-electrified, made of glazed terracotta with a metallic black enamel, handcrafted in Biot, with an embossed mark under the handle, difficult to read but identifiable, French vintage work from the 1960s. It has an elongated shape with a wide circular base, a top dish, and is adorned with a rounded side handle, giving it a very graphic and decorative silhouette. It has a lovely presence, measuring 32cm in height, a base diameter of 24cm, a shaft diameter of 9cm, and a central opening of 2.5cm allowing for the use of a candle of the type used for altar candles or a wider one in the dish. It is in good used condition, with several chips in the enamel around the shaft, some of which have been darkened, one more noticeable chip of about 6mm that is not darkened, along with small marks and scratches from use, as well as a discreet hairline crack at the neck that is not compromising, overall remaining aesthetic and harmonious.
