Vintage 1970 Joe Colombo 860 861 Kartell chair bright orange

Universal chair 860/861, the pioneering chair moulded from a single material, by Joe Colombo for Kartell, 1970s, in a bright orange colour. It bears a unique mark: "kartell binasco (milano) 860 e 861". To my knowledge, this is one of the first editions. The later ones are thicker and have different legs. Not only is this chair visually striking, but it is also very practical, with a central hole that serves as a handy handle for moving it. This hole also promotes air and water circulation when used outdoors. A must-have of 1970s design, it is exhibited in prestigious museums such as MoMA in New York or the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Known for its durability, stackability, and variety of colours, this chair reflects the widespread adoption of modern plastic furniture in Italy in the late 1960s. In good vintage condition with the usual cracks on this model. It is more of a sculpture than a chair, as the plastic from the 70s is no longer sturdy enough to sit on. Visible in Paris.
