20th-century English chest, black

English storage chest from the mid-20th century, made of softwood and finished with a dark, almost black coat of paint. The rectangular chest has a hinged lid and a simple plinth. The painted initials ‘L.B.’ are visible on the front. The interior is finished in a greyish-blue colour and shows signs of long-term use. The original paint finish has largely been preserved and has a distinctly weathered appearance.
