Superb black leather office chair by Jacques Adnet dating from the early 1950s. This chair is characteristic of Adnet's work, supple saddle-stitched leather, brass sabots, details and exposed screws. The line is truly superb, worked, and very modern. The seat and backrest have been covered with a new, very supple black leather, the armrests and legs have retained their original leather. A very chic and decorative chair, comfortable, which will go perfectly with an Art Deco or modernist office. Jacques Adnet (1900–1984) was a French designer and interior architect known for his elegant and modernist style. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, from the beginning, he was interested in modernism, a movement that rejected the excessive ornaments of Art Nouveau and advocated simple and functional lines. In the 1920s, he founded a company with his twin brother, Jean Adnet, where they created furniture using simple geometric shapes and high-quality materials. In 1928, he was appointed director of the Compagnie des Arts Français (CAF), and enabled the institution to adopt a contemporary approach. His creations blended industrial materials, such as glass and metal, with simple, clean lines. In the 1950s, by collaborating with the luxury house Hermès, he reaffirmed his status as a pioneer of refined 20th-century French design.
