Alabaster pedestal column, 19th century

Alabaster sculpted column. The top can be turned over to serve different purposes. The flat side allows for a vase or lamp, while the hollow side serves as a dish for placing a green plant, reminiscent of the bourgeois salons of the 19th century where large green plants were very fashionable.
