Set of 8 'Strip' dining chairs by Gijs Bakker

Set of 8 stackable 'Strip' dining chairs designed by Gijs Bakker and produced by Castelijn in the Netherlands in the 1970s. Each chair is made of 4 strips of laminated beech wood, each 11 cm wide, that were steam bent and pressed into their final, organic shape. Some chairs in this set have the maker's label underneath. They show many signs of use, scratches, water marks, and discolouration, as shown in the pictures. We decided to sell them 'as is' with the patina they have gathered over the years, as they have a lot of character. The structure of all these chairs has been checked for sturdiness in our own workshop.
