Set of 2 Universale red plastic stacking chairs produced by Kartell Italy, 1960s Designed by Joe Colombo. Dimensions: H73.7 x W41.9 x D47 cm, seat height 43 cm. In vintage condition with signs of wear due to age and use. Text from MoMa New york: This sturdy, stackable, and colorful chair reflects the enthusiasm for modern plastic furniture in the late 1960s, which was particularly strong in Italy. Advertisements from that period praised its adaptability and durability, proclaiming: "It doesn't age or break. You can throw it out the window, leave it outside, submerge it, take it to the North Pole or the desert: it will always be as good as new." As the model name "Universale" suggests, the chair could be used both indoors and outdoors, in public or private settings.
