Very beautiful four-panel chinese lacquered screen dating from the 1940s, featuring a scene of women in a courtyard on one side, and colorful birds and foliage on the other side. The panels are lacquered, with pastel-colored pigments, inlaid with carved colored hard stones that stand out on the black lacquer. The bottom of each panel is decorated with fruit. Supported by straight feet finished by brass-sheathed feet. It is in a very nice vintage condition. Each panel measures h 184 cms X w 41 cms.
