This is a very rare pair of accent chairs by t Woonhuys Amsterdam in highly sought-after patinated cognac leather, made in the 1920s. T Woonhuys, the famous Dutch furniture company from the early 20th century, was renowned for its high-quality bespoke interiors and furniture, including works by architect Michel de Klerk in the Amsterdam School style. These chairs feature a refined design with an elegant backrest, stable posture, and large claw-shaped front legs. They combine stylistic influences that are difficult to categorise simply and showcase an outstanding use of materials with a high-quality finish. The quilted and patinated cognac leather covers the front and back of the backrest. They are in excellent original condition with an attractive patina and are signed at the base.
