Pair of Bookends, "White Peacock" Pigeons in Golden Metal, Art Deco – 1930/ 1940

Pair of bookends featuring peacock pigeons in gilded metal. Dark and light patinas harmonize, highlighting the plumage of the pair of birds. Poised, placid, the two birds have their tails spread in fans, reminiscent of the majestic wheels of peacocks. Their bulging breasts are also characteristic of their species. Their legs are camped on a green intermediate base. The rectangular terraces of these bookends are made of veined black marble, with cut front corners.
