Antique painted Folk art bridal chest

This beautiful antique bridal chest dates from 1911 and features highly decorative painting. This piece comes from Romania and is a wonderful example of folk art from the time. It was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a wedding gift to the couple. These pieces were later placed in a show room on the farm, which was only rarely used for important guests or special occasions. All our bridal chests have been checked and, if necessary, restored, while retaining their characteristic appearance. This chest has had some repairs to the bottom and has been treated against woodworm and finished with beeswax. This piece is mainly decorated with floral paintings with a central love heart.
