Superb large folding fan kyō-sensu for the decoration of any interior both classic and modern; made in japan, this fan is a high-end decorative fan with a double-sided pattern. Traditional in japanese culture we find the sensu fans during the dance performances of the famous noh theaters. When the fan unfolds, it reveals a beautiful cherry and pine pattern entirely hand-painted with a gold metallic bottom on one side and silver on the other. The bamboo frame of 10 branches is lacquered black. This handheld fan will create a beautiful japanese/asian atmosphere in any room or a great candidate for any collection. When a fan is open, its tips extend wider than its origin. This was seen as representing prosperity, and so the fan became a symbol of good fortune. Measurements (approx.): 29m long* 50 cm when fully unfolded. Handmade and painted in japan. Condition: overall in good or very good vintage condition with some defects due to its age: some small scratches in the folds and some marks.
