Johnnes Andersen Coffee Table "Smile" for CFC Silkeborg

Condition: Very good condition. A small area slightly damaged on the top. Description Stunning coffee table by Danish designer Johannes Andersen, dating from 1958. Andersen's creations are characterised by an organic visual language, combined with exceptional craftsmanship. The fluid lines and rounded angles are particularly distinctive of his work. This is especially evident with the "Smile" coffee table, one of his most famous pieces. Little is known about Johannes Andersen's life. Born in 1903 in Aarhus, Denmark, young Andersen first trained in cabinetmaking. In the 1930s, he opened his own studio. There, he created designs for Trensum, CFC Silkeborg, OD Møbler, Bramin, and Uldum Møbelfabrik. The designer is said to have contined working in his studio until an advanced age. He passed away in Aarhus in 1991. Johannes Andersen is now regarded as the "king of Danish tables."
