The Tumbler (De Tuimelaar) desk lamp, W.H. Gispen for Daalderop, ca. 1928

Beautiful, rare desk lamp designed by W.H. Gispen for Daalderop KMD (Royal Metalware Factory Daalderop) in 1928. The lamp is made of nickel-plated metal and has a bell-shaped shade. The desk lamp is called 'The Tumbler' as it can be put in various positions, with the heavy ball base functioning as a counterweight. The heavy metal ball rests in a metal ring which keeps the ball in place. The lamp has been checked and rewired. In good working, vintage condition, with great patina.
